| No remote control and scratch on TV Screen |

On 26th July I ordered a Philips 42" TV from the internet shopping channel. Within a couple of hours I received a phone call from ELKOL Electronics - who persuaded me to upgrade the TV from the 3000 series to the 5000 (5609). I was told that I would receive the TV within 10 working days (NO PROBLEM).
On 9th August I was informed that the TV would be arriving the next day, which it did at 7am (as I requested) up to here the service was excellent. I signed that I had received the BOX (the delivery man didn't open it - or show me what was in it - ) In the evening on getting home from work I opened the box to check that everything was in order. To my dismay and after searching several times (in the plastic bag with the book and batteries + on all parts of the styrofoam) there was no remote control. I left the TV (screen still covered with bubble wrap) in the box.
11th August - first thing in the morning I telephoned ELKOL and informed them of the missing remote. First they asked if the delivery man had opened the box and shown me all the parts to which I replied 'no'. They said that this was unacceptable to them. They promised that they would send it by Post office messenger - door to door IMMEDIATELY. (After they made me feel like a complete imbecile and that I was to blame that there was no remote).
A week went by with me checking with the post office daily - and telephoning to ELKOL daily asking them to check also - I got the impression that they actually hadn't sent the remote at all - heard loads of different stories - and was told that the post office messenger would immediately be in touch with me - of course he never was. Friday 19th August I sent a mail to ELKOL (which probably they would receive on Sunday 21st) asking them to please come and take the TV as it is useless without its remote control. Of course they completely ignored my mail.
Sunday 21st I telephoned ELKOL who said - 'we are bringing stock to Tel Aviv on WEDNESDAY 24th - come and get the remote from 'Yigal Alon st.' - although this was very inconvenient and I had paid a fortune for delivery I agreed breathing a sigh of relief that finally I would be getting the remote control. Tuesday evening we took the TV out of the box to set it up as the next day we were getting the remote?????!!!!! THERE WAS A LARGE SCRATCH ON THE SCREEN - which of course we saw after taking the bubble paper off carefully. By this time I was in a complete state.
On Wednesday I went to get the remote anyway - and INSTEAD OF GIVING US THE ORIGINAL TV REMOTE (Picture in the booklet of the TV) THEY GAVE US A UNIVERSAL REMOTE THAT LOOKS LIKE A TOY - Again we telephoned ELKOL who told us they don't have a remote and they can't give us one and the original one WE probably lost anyway - and with regard to the scratch there is nothing they can do (only if we advise within 24 hours, ) - although in the end a girl by the name of Tzila (apparently manager of customer services) agreed to send someone NEXT WEEK to look at the scratch and then they will come to a decision.
All this has made me come to the conclusion that:
The TV was probably one that had been returned (without the remote) - it was either second hand or from display. I certainly didn't pay for second hand or display !
They had NEVER sent the remote - because they didn't have one -
I would like your comments please - plus I NEED THE ORIGINAL REMOTE TO GET INTO THE MENU to adjust colour - contrast etc - at the moment its impossible to look at the screen.
